Sometimes winter seems to last forever. But when you visit Illusion Unlimited’s Parma hair salon, our Strongsville salon or our Broadview Heights hair salon, you’ll find it’s always warm and welcoming – no matter what the season! (See what we did there?!)

But as hospitable as our Cleveland hair salons are, we are really ready for spring, so we were looking forward to a good forecast on Groundhog Day.

Did you know that Ohio has its own groundhog prognosticator? Buckeye Chuck, who lives in Marion, Ohio, was on the job on Feb. 2. With a little help from the cloudy weather on Groundhog Day, Chuck predicted an early spring in the Buckeye State.

Whew! But even though the news is good, we wanted to share some uplifting ideas with you to help you get through the last weeks of winter. 

The Happiness Lab Podcast

Illusion Unlimited may have the happiest salons in Cleveland, Ohio, but sometimes even our most dedicated hair stylists need a little something to perk them up. We have found that listening to Dr. Laurie Santos’ podcast – The Happiness Lab – can be really helpful.

Dr. Santos  is a professor of psychology at Yale University, who is an expert on human cognition and the cognitive biases that impede better choices. That sounds a little intimidating, but believe us, she’s not intimidating or hard to understand at all! 

Her course, “Psychology and the Good Life,” is all about how the science of psychology can help you to make better choices and be happier. It was Yale’s most popular course in more than 300 years, and has been featured in numerous news outlets including the New York Times, NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, GQ Magazine, Slate and O! Magazine. They say it’s also changed thousands of lives.

In her podcast, Santos takes you through the latest research and shares some surprising and inspiring stories that will probably change the way you think about happiness. (Hint: It’s not about more money, a better job, or Instagram-worthy vacations.)
