When you work at a hair salon in Cleveland, like all of us at Illusion Unlimited do, you usually have a plentiful supply of shampoo at home. We’re always interested in trying out new brands and new formulas to see what might work best for the clients at our Parma hair salon, our Strongsville salon and our Broadview Heights location.
It’s not at all unusual for any of us to accumulate an impressive collection of partially full bottles of shampoo. You might know all too well how shampoo bottles tend to collect (you can’t fool us!). If that’s the case, you’ll be as happy as we were to discover some additional uses for some of that shampoo.
Shampoo Hacks at Home
According to the Huffington Post, you can use some of the shampoo you’ve collected to do a lot of things, including:
- Do your handwash. “Instead of forking out for expensive hand wash products, just use shampoo to wash your delicates,” Rosy Cherrington writes.
- Clean your makeup brushes and your hairbrushes. As the Huffington Post points out, “Keeping makeup and hairbrushes clean is essential for banishing hidden dirt and bacteria. Remove excess hair and residue from your brushes then leave them to soak in a bowl of warm water and shampoo for 10-15 minutes. Rinse and leave them to dry out for squeaky-clean brushes.”
- Stop your mirrors from getting foggy. “Squirt a bit of shampoo on a paper towel and rub it into the mirror then with a clean cloth wipe it away,” Cherrington advises. “Next time you shower your mirror will be fog free with no streaks.”
- Give yourself a manicure. If you’re missing the attentions of one of the nail techs at our Strongsville nail salon (they’re definitely missing you!) give your hands a little TLC at home. According to the Huffington Post you can, “Soak hands in shampoo and warm water for silky soft mitts and clean cuticles.”
Go ahead, give these hacks a try and let your friends at Illusion Unlimited Hair Salons of Cleveland know what you think. We miss you!
