More Spooky Fun
As we mentioned in our last post, the team at Cleveland.com in partnership with The Plain Dealer, put together an amazing and extensive list of Halloween activities in our area. You have to wonder how long it took them! Their full list features 65 different activities. We wanted to share some with you!
Spooktacular Science and Take Two! film screening at Great Lakes Science Center
Chemical concoctions, exploding pumpkins, an “Electric Magic Big Science Show” and more are part of this year’s Spooktacular Science extravaganza at the Great Lakes Science Center. Kids get to be mad scientists for a day with a full slate of activities that let them explore what really makes things scary, spooky, ooey and gooey. It ends with a monster mash dance party.
Also at the Science Center’s DOME theater on Oct. 28, they’ll be taking it back to Halloween 1993 with a double feature of “Hocus Pocus” at 6 p.m. and “Army of Darkness” at 8 p.m.

Playhouse Scare
For the third year, downtown’s Playhouse Square theater district will transform into “Playhouse Scare.” Medium Marianne Goldweber will hold séances at Cibreo Privato. At Hofbrauhaus, the classic “Night of the Living Dead” will screen at 11 p.m., with a happy hour beginning at 8 p.m. Puente Viejo, You’re Truly, Cowell & Hubbard and more will participate with specials.

Cleveland Orchestra at the Movies – “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”
The Cleveland Orchestra hosts this showing of the classic black and white silent film, “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” at Severance Hall. The screening will be accompanied by Todd Wilson and feature the venue’s renowned Norton Memorial Organ. On Oct. 29, they’ll also have family Halloween day at the Orchestra.

Silent disco at Museum of Contemporary Art: “Stranger Things”
Just watch the debut trailer for “Stranger Things” featuring Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” to get you pumped for this silent disco. The smash hit television show is the theme of the night, and DJ Ellery and DJ Candi Fresca will be spinning tunes in its honor. Yes, they’ll even have Eggo waffles (11’s favorite snack). For refreshments, stop into “The Upside Down” lounge. They’ll be giving out prizes for best costumes, including best “Stranger Things” costume and best ‘80s horror movie villain and victim costume.

Spooky Fest
Mapleside Farms is always a family-friendly destination for seasonal fun. For Halloween, the Brunswick farm will host spooky games, storytelling and a flashlight corn maze. Kids can participate in a costume parade at 2 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

Owls & Howls: A Not So Spooky Halloween
You don’t have to have scares to still have a little Halloween spirit. Head to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History for live animal demonstrations, crafts, pumpkin decorating, games and more fright-free fun. Kids under 12 who come in costume get in free.

Gordon Square Dia de los Muertos
This celebration of the Mexican tradition of Day of the Dead is one of the most vibrant festivals in Cleveland. Throughout Gordon Square, all ages can find activities like face painting, a wide range of live music, dance performances by Tepehuani Nelli Folkloric Dance Company and the Julia de Burgos Dancers and Hispanic arts vendors. The Procession of Skulls & Skeletons Parade kicks off at 3:30 p.m.
